Do You Read Makeup Packaging?

I have always read the back of cosmetics packaging. I guess before I ever thought of writing about makeup I was already testing claims.

The only part I never read is ingredient lists. BoRinG!!!!

I’d just follow any directions included to test the performance of the product if I used it as recommended.

I don’t throw packaging away until I’ve read it. Can you say nerd?

Anyway, do you enjoy reading the packing of cosmetics or any other products? Let me know in a comment.

I order everything online, so I usually read the information on the website and ignore the box. However, I try not to throw out the packaging until after I’ve finished reviewing the product because there have been times I found out there was a difference in ingredients, instructions, etc between the website and packaging.

Really, I’ve never caught that never read both the website and the packaging that I recall. I’m curious now. 🙂

It’s rare but it happens. Usually it’s because a brand did a quiet reformulation and updated the website to list the new ingredients, but were still selling the “old” stock. One time the reverse happened. I bought the brand new mini of the Givenchy prisme libre powder, but they didn’t tell anyone that the minis had the new formula. I thought the slight packaging update was just a minis thing. It wasn’t until months later when Givenchy started selling the full size reformulated powder in the new packaging that it became known that there was a reformulation at all. So, the whole time I thought I was using the original and wondered why it was decent but not as good as everyone hyped up. I technically wasn’t using the same thing!

Another example I forgot to mention is more recent. I started using the Sweed Lash Serum at the very end of October. On the box, it said to apply to the base of the upper lash line, but on the website it says to apply just above the lash line, plus starting from the outer corner to the inner corner. I had problems with excess product in my inner corner, so that extra bit of info on the website was a big help. I didn’t see that note until the third week of using the product though, so for once it was a bad thing to just rely on what was said on the box. lol.

You’d think they’d be consistent with information. Maybe they assume the average person doesn’t read it. How did the Sweed Lash Serum work for you?

It took the full 6 weeks to see results. No one would be able to tell I was using a serum based on how my natural eyelashes look (because of how they’re curled), but the difference can be seen once I put on mascara. Then I can tell they’re longer than before. I’m not sure if anyone else would notice though, but I’m happy with the improvement.

I tend to read shampoo , conditioner and hair products . That includes my hair dyes . All the dyes are used veggie based which is good , but I notice some ingredients seem to work better with my hair , like mango or shea butter

I read hair products too. I used to be more into hair products than I am now. I would try not to buy things with alcohol in them or harsh ingredients most of the time. I’ve also been considering dying my hair but I don’t want to use ones with ingredients that are too harsh. What dyes do you recommend?

Anything veggie based , just be mindful depending on how light your hair will determine how bright or vivid your hair will be . If you’re going for natural colors One n Only argan oil dyes are really good , but even some crazy hair brands will put out more natural or subdued shades like chestnut , chocolate cherry ect .

I’ll look into those. I’m looking to go natural like some shade of brown. Nothing too crazy lol Do you bleach your hair yourself?

I do bleach my hair , have for years . I only use wella products and 20 developer . I still sometimes make mistakes but I try to only do my roots and touch ups . I’m sure you can find a good brown , I think wella makes some good color charms that would work too . They add a bit of color but you have to add a tiny bit of developer .
