New Year’s resolutions some times seem like all or nothing commitments that you make at the beginning of the year. And then halfway through you fall off.
….of all of them….
I think new year goals should be things to aim for. They are not something I hold myself to. They are just a direction to move towards. It gives me space and allows me to be human. And this way I’m not held to rigid requirements or restrictions. It reminds me of the quote below that every grade school teacher has on their wall. 😄

I also like to view them like a the viewfinder you use before you shoot rather than the target itself. It just guides the movement. This way you avoid the feeling of failure. It is simply a planned trajectory and not an inflexible destination.
My yearly reflection questions are usually worded something like this:
What did I think last year would be like? What was it actually like?
What are my goals for the new year? or even better….What would I like to aim for in the new year?
Do you make New Year resolutions? Or is that not really your thing? If not maybe you can try it out. Use my questions as a journal prompt.
Wishing you a happy and blessed 2026!
Amber ❤
