Mac Spotlight: Powder Blush Raizin

Mac was very popular in the late 2000s and early 2010s and its the brand that almost every makeup blogger and vlogger raved about. If you owned Mac cosmetics you were IT. You’d officially made it in the beauty blogging world. Now the mainstream makeup world has moved on to other high end products and Mac has lost its hype from what I can tell. Everyone moves in the direction of the latest Tik Tok craze. But I’m still on Mac like its 2012 buying what I couldn’t buy then now that I can.

I decided I wanted to start a series dedicated to each product in my collection as it builds. And what better way to start the series than with my first Mac makeup product I’ve ever purchased which is the powder blush in the color Raizin.

I’d always stopped at the Mac Counter in Dillards every time I went shopping. I’d look at all the colors and ask to test the ones I’d heard about the most on YouTube. I’d only just browsed for a few years before I actually bought something which is ironic based on how much I always wanted to buy something from Mac. One day, I stopped to test out the blushes and I swatched a few of them on my hand. Raisin stood out to me and I liked it right away. My friend was with me and she said “That’s a pretty color! I think it would fit you well.” And that sealed the deal for me and I bought it.

On the Mac website, it is described as a golden reddish-brown matte. And that is exactly what it looks like. Its how the color came off to me when I swatched it for the first time. I thought the color complimented me well and it reminded me a lot of my favorite blush that is now discontinued. It was L’Oreal Blush in the color Soft Sun. Which was the first drugstore blush I’d ever purchased. It was a little bit lighter than Raizin but in the same reddish brown/golden color family.

After more makeup experimentation I don’t gravitate towards Raizin anymore. While it is a beautiful color, I’ve left it behind in favor of more Corals, Peaches, and Pinks which I feel fit me a lot better. And even though I don’t wear it a lot, I still like having it in my collection for when I feel like wearing a different color.

If you are a fan of red toned blushes this is a good choice. It is very pigmented and doesn’t take much to build up the color. And if you are of a deep complexion it would make a great addition to your makeup bag. It is a color that I’ve seen recommended by lots of other deep skinned beauty lovers.
