Makeup Tip: How to Fix a Broken Compact

Oh no! You dropped your compact and it shattered everywhere! Have you been there or am I the only clumsy one here? Tell me I’m not. 😄 If you’re lucky, the compact stayed closed. If you’re not so lucky, it opened up on impact and made a mess. Now you have a broken compact and a mess of powder to clean up. What a disaster! I I wanted to share tip I learned years ago online to fix a broken compact. All it requires is one product…..

Add a few drops rubbing alcohol into the broken power enough to wet all the product. It doesn’t need to be flooded with alcohol but just so that it’s almost paste like. You want it to be damp enough for the powder to start to stick together. Flatten it out as much as you can. Then get a paper towel lay it over the powder and press it until it is compressed evenly. If its got the proper dampness level, the alcohol won’t wet the paper significantly or at all. If you want to you can use something more flat than your fingers like a spoon or the bottom of a small container. I’ve even used a coin before. Might sound kind of gross but with the napkin on top it keeps things sanitary.

Lastly, leave your compact open to dry. It works like magic. I’ve fixed many compacts with this method and it leaves them good as new. Of course it won’t be as beautifully pressed as when you got it. But it makes the product useable again without there being a mess. I also never found that it compromised the product in any way.

And there you have it a quick fix for a broken compact with a product you probably already have at home.
