Do You Choose Your Makeup By Season?

Summer is already on it’s way out and fall is quickly approaching. For as long as I’ve followed makeup communities there was always a common theme of adjusting makeup and nail polish colors to the season. Back then I liked the idea and I thought it was a way to express the mood of the season through makeup. I never followed the trend with makeup because most lipstick just looked off on me. But I did pick my nail polishes by the season and I still do. I guess since unlike makeup, I find that I like wearing a lot of colors from other color seasons.

In every season I would wear the same makeup that I always wore and no lip color. After all I liked gold eyeshadow and that could look kind of crazy with a lot of lip colors and it’s also quite bold. So it could turn into too much very easily. And I would always stick to the same blushes. Now that I know what colors I like best on me I tend to wear those most of the time. There’s also the whole color season thing which I have a “loose” idea of where I fit. But I still break color season rules. Who wants to be boxed in right? I think it kind of dilutes creativity and expression.

Anyway, I think even in your color season there are ones that would fit all the other seasons. I don’t pick my makeup by season. I choose it according to my mood. Do you pick your makeup or nail polish by the season or do you wear what you feel like wearing for the day? Or are you a fashionista who wears makeup that matches your outfits? Let me know below. And if you want you can also leave me your favorite products or shades you like for certain seasons.

I choose my makeup based more on the weather of the season than the season itself. I want to look the same all year, but I may need to do more or less things to achieve that look due to the weather. For example, during the warm summer I don’t like to wear foundation. I tend to sweat more, so I’m less concerned about not looking dewy or glowy enough. Then in the colder dry months I need to prep my dry skin like crazy to keep a glow. During summer, I might go for a sunburnt look and add a little red blush to my temples. In winter, I might be a little more inclined to wear cooler toned blushes for a “cold girl” look. Other than those small changes, I pretty much just stick to my favorite colors and products the whole year. I don’t always match my clothes and makeup, but I at least try not to have them clash. If I’m wearing a bold patterned top, for instance, I’m going to tone down my makeup. But if I’m wearing a sparkly dress for an event, I’m going to pair it with glam makeup too. Just whatever I think would look most complimentary.

Ahh so in way you’re still seasonal just not with color but in “theme” I guess you could say. I didn’t think of that. I guess I wear mine according to the season to then. 😄
