As far back as I can remember -to my teen years I wasn’t wearing eyeshadow as a toddler lol -my go to eyeshadow was a gold or bronze shadow. The first eyeshadow I ever purchased was a L’Oreal Hip Duo shadow circa 2008. Do you remember those? They were small circular packaging that was split down the middle with a different color on either side. Mine was gold on one side and dark brown on the other. After a google search I found out it was the shade Bustling. It was so nostalgic to find. Throughout my teen years my tastes stayed the same. I was still buying the golds. I didn’t wear any other color. To me, that was my signature.
So I came across Amber Lights while looking at Mac Eyeshadow swatches and the gold drew me in. For a while from just looking at it on the website reading descriptions of the color and looking at swatches I assumed the gold would be too orange for my taste. But during a Mac sale a few months ago. I came across it again. And put it in my cart because why not? lol And the Name is AMBER lights. It’s not a coincidence….its FATE. 😄It’s got my name on it. If that’s not a sign I don’t know what is.

The color is a medium gold with a shimmer finish. Mac describes it as a peachy-brown shimmer. And on the box it is labeled as a Frost. That description fits it well. I like that it isn’t an orange gold like I was hoping that it wouldn’t be. I’m rekindling my love for gold eyeshadow with this one. Its what my younger self would have wanted. It’s a teenaged Amber’s dream. I would’ve put this all over my eyelids with deep black eyeliner on my top and bottom lashes along with sixty two layers of any brand of mascara in the shade “Blackest Black” and thought it was a “lewk”.
Gold deposit is kind of intense built up as you can see in the swatch. So most of the time I wear gold deposit blended out onto my eyelid for a wash of gold on my eyelids. I came across the photo below of an eyeshadow look I did years ago. I think I used L’Oreal La Palette Nude 1 which I no longer have. But it was a warm neutral palette with golds, browns, and tan shades. I was out of my teen years and past the mascara craze so here I’m wearing a reasonable amount of mascara. 😄And on my lower lash line is a blue drugstore eyeliner. I forgot what brand it was. It has to be Revlon or L’Oreal if I had to guess.I wanted to use Gold deposit to recreate the picture of the gold eyeliner and blue lower lash line. Gold deposit isn’t as orange as the gold that I wore in the photo above but it’s close.
Here is the old eyeshadow look…….

Gold Eye Recreation Outer Corner and Inner Lash Line
Mac Saddle is the closest shade I own to the color that is on my crease in the original photo.

I started by adding Gold deposit to my lid and then blending saddle into the crease.

And for the lower lash line I’ve got Mac In the Shadows

And that’s it. I wanted to recreate this old eyeshadow look in honor of the days when I only wore gold eyeshadow. How creative and daring was I? 😏And what better eyeshadow to use than Gold Deposit. I think the look is spot on. I enjoy wearing Gold Deposit and I would definitely recommend it.
Thanks for Reading
Amber ❤
