What if all the High End Makeup Was No Longer Available?

What if all the high end makeup lines were discontinued? What would be your go to at the drugstore? I was thinking about what my favorite drugstore products or brands were in each category. And it brought that question to mind. What are all the best quality products from the drugstore. If I were limited to only drugstore products what brands would I choose for each category?

Here are my picks…’

  1. Foundation ( Loreal ! 🥇) L’Oreal has the best foundations. I’ve tried Revlon, Milani, Burt’s Bees, Maybelline, and Covergirl. And L’Oreal has been the one I’ve come back to again and again.
  2. Eyeliner? ……………… (Wet n Wild! 🥇) I’ve written about the Wet n Wild eyeliners a few times on here. And I think they are the best by far especially for the price and pigmentation.
  3. Mascara? …………. (Covergirl! 🥇)I’ve tried sooo many drugstore mascaras. And the best of the drugstore has to be Covergirl Lash Blast Volume( Orange Tube). I’m a loyal fan. Covergirl has been the winner for me since 2011. And I had to choose another for a tie. L’Oreal 🥇 Yay! I’ve also continually returned to the L’Oreal Telescopic Mascaras. I either buy the original or the first L’Oreal Telescopic mascara I have ever used which is Carbon Black.
  4. Eyeshadow? ………(Maybelline🥇) Not that I’ve tried many because to me drugstore eyeshadows have never been that great. This is the brand of eyeshadow that I’ve purchased most consistently.
  5. Lip gloss? ……………(Revlon 🥇) I like the Revlon Superlustrous Lip Glosses. They have no scent or flavor and are not heavy or sticky. That’s a win for me.
  6. Lip stick?………………(Revlon🥇) Gotta go with Revlon again for the same reason as the glosses. They do not have a scent and are not drying at all. Not even the shades from the matte line are drying.
  7. Blush………..(Wet n Wild 🥇) Wet n Wild has good blush shades for a low price. The shade selection is not very good. But the ones I do have I enjoy. And I also like their cream blushes.

What brand or brands would be your number one picks from the drugstore if all the high end makeup was no more?

I’ve never had luck with foundations at the drugstore. Everything was too light and too dark. So, I’d probably skip it (or combine shades) and use instead the only drugstore concealer I’ve found that works for me and matches, which is from L’Oreal. Maybelline mascaras all the way. Nyx eyeliner. Nyx or ELF brow products. Colourpop eyeshadows if that counts as being drugstore rather than indie. If not, ELF eyeshadows. Covergirl blushes and maybe just Vaseline Lip Therapy in the Rosy color for lips.

Between L’Oreal, Colourpop, and E.L.F. I think I could cover everything.

Elf! Totally forgot about E.L.F. eyeshadows. Thanks for reminding me lol They are very good for drugstore. And yes drugstore foundations aren’t the best as far a shade range. I just haven’t dipped into the high end foundations quite yet. I’m right at the edge though. lol What would you recommend for high end?

There are a lot of good foundation brands, but my best recommendation for high end is Nars. Whether it’s the Sheer Glow, Light Reflecting, or Soft Matte formula, I cannot manage to be without at least one type of Nars foundation in my collection. Plus, they have quite a big shade range!

I’ve been contemplating getting Nars for months. I have a couple of ideas of what my shade may be that I’ve been going back and forth on. A friend of mine uses it too and she told me its really good. So I may just have to give in and get it. Thanks!

This would be tough , as I mainly go indie for shadows , I love my pigment . So I would struggle if I was only forced to buy drugstore palettes . Everything else I think I could get by with as I love wet n wild and Nyx liners , same with myx primers and wet n wild highlighters too . I do like my mid range and higher range foundations though , but I’ve used a few revlon concealers that were good .

Yes, drugstore has a lot of good products now. They are better than what they used to be. With price increases you’d think they would be lol What are some good indie eyeshadows that you like?

I’ve never paid much attention to those. I’ve heard of them here and there in makeup videos and blogs. Well Juvia’s Place and Sugarpill I’ve heard of. I’ll have to look up C-Beauty, Beauty Bay, and Girl Cult.
