I recently purchased the Mac Lipstick in Double Shot which was originally released in the early 2000s as part of the Y2K makeup trend of that time. I’m not sure when it was discontinued. And google doesn’t seem to know either. It was re- released in 2024 as part of the Mac Bring back releases in celebration of Mac’s 40th anniversary. The brand released 8 shades: Bubbles, Haku, Fleshpot, Shanghai Spice, Hot Gossip, Up the Amp, Double Shot, and Chintz. Mac still has three shades of the bring back collection available for purchase on their website which are: Double Shot, Shanghai Spice, and Up the Amp. It comes in its limited edition Mac bring back packaging. They are the same Mac lipstick tubes just a little more colorful.

Double Shot was one of the shades I wanted to try when I was only admiring Mac Cosmetics. I’ve always had a list of Mac makeup to try and before I got the chance to purchase it it was discontinued. I finalllyyy got around to purchasing the Mac Double Shot lipstick shade this year. Since there were three shades left in the line and they were being sold for a limited time NOW was my chance. And when Mac had their sale a few weeks ago I decided to get it then. So I got try it out and satisfy my curiosity on what the shade looked like on me. I always thought it would make a good neutral shade. Over the years I’ve tried so many nudes and browns looking for a neutral and found a few. None of them looked quiet the way I wanted them to look. And it turns out that I like this one . It doesn’t look too warm or dark or even too brown. It is exactly what I’ve always been looking for in a neutral lipstick.
It is Mac’s amplified creme formula that their website describes as hydrating and smoothing and a “coffee” color. The actual product is pictured below. It looks coffee colored and to me that’s a spot description. I also think it looks more like a mocha shade to me than their actual Mocha lipstick shade.

I haven’t tested the wear time. But I have other lipsticks in their amplified creme formula and they wear well. They have to be reapplied something like every 3-4 hours for me which I don’t mind since I enjoy putting on makeup. I honestly haven’t worn it much since I got it. Something about it being limited edition makes me want to preserve it. And something about the packaging makes me want to keep it in the box. 😂I also didn’t want to wear the bullet down much until I was able to take a picture of it for a review. Now that it’s done we will see if I feel like using it more.
Thanks for reading ❤
