Black eyeliner is a classic. But black can sometimes be a big too harsh or close up your eye a lot more than you want it to. I used to think if you had black hair and brown skin or just black hair the best eyeliner color was always black. But that is truly not the case. I bought a brown eyeliner several years ago to try it out and was pleasantly surprised by how it looked.

Brown eyeliner is a soft everyday liner color. It’s very natural and perfect for a no makeup makeup look or if you only use makeup to enhance. I’ve tried out a handful of brown eyeliners from the drugstore. And I’ve landed on the best ones that are that I think are the most pigmented. It was especially important for me that they show up on brown skin. I’ve swatched the ones that I own that I think are the darkest in color and give the best results for a drugstore price.

Wet n wild H20 Proof Felt Tip Liquid Eyeliner Dark Brown

As you can see the label on mine faded off. This is my favorite one in this round up of eyeliners. I’ve had it for a while now maybe a couple of years and the color is just starting to get watery. It is a deep dark brown that is darker than what is shown in the swatches. And for the price you can’t beat it. It is a deep brown that is almost black and defines the lash line very nicely. It is not as sharp as black but is still a very defining color. The only downside is that the wand holds a lot of product that can clump the lashes. But I’ve always been able to overlook it in favor of the dark brown color payoff that it provides. And it is indeed water proof. It doesn’t loosen with warm water like a non water proof eyeliner and requires a makeup remover to loosen it up. So it does live up to its water proof claims.

Wet n wild Color Icon Kohl Pencil Simma Brown Now

This is the best brown pencil eyeliner I’ve ever tried. It’s my second favorite brown eyeliner amongst these. It is dark enough to show up on brown skin and goes on smoothly. It gives nice natural definition to your upper lash line and water line definition and makes your eyelashes look thicker. This is another one you can’t beat for the price.

L.A. Colors Auto Eyeliner Black Brown

This L.A. Colors eyeliner is nice and dark. I’d say it is harder to line above the upper lash line like you would with other eyeliners. But it works well on the lower water line.

Wet n wild Proline Felt Tip Eyeliner Dark Brown

I was looking for other eyeliners as dark as the Wet n Wild H2O eyeliner and this one is perfect . In fact, it is even darker. I came across it through a google search and the reviews on Amazon were good so I gave it a try and I was not disappointed. You can see in the swatches above how dark it actually is.

Maybelline Master Precise All Day Forest Brown

This is a good eyeliner but I’ll admit it doesn’t go on as dark as the others when actually applied to the lash line. Its good for subtle and natural eye definition and is among the darkest of brown eyeliners from the drugstore that I’ve tried.
