The most popular lipsticks and lipstick colors are always the most enticing. I have tried countless lipstick colors trying to find ones that fit. I tried the bright and bold, the browns and the nudes, and the most raved about shades . And I’ve tried ones that just looked pretty in the tube. Only to find that the best colors for me are sheer or muted in color.

If I could pull off any lipstick color, I’d wear a crisp bright red like Mac Ruby Woo. I like how it can make the wearer look put together and effortless just with the lipstick all by itself. I’ve always admired the bright sharp colors but I don’t have the temperament or the undertone for that kind of color. To me, a bright red is very high energy and bold. And those are two things I am not. I have my versions of red which I wrote about in my post Red Lipstick Re-Imagined. And those work well for me.
