If you’re someone who enjoys wearing makeup you know that it can be a challenge to remove sometimes. Soap and water can get off the majority of your makeup. But soap and water is not something you want to use near your eyes. Over the years, I’ve found two go-to makeup removers that are gentle yet effective at taking off stubborn products like eyeliner, mascara, liquid lipsticks, and even lip stains.
- Ponds Cold Cream. This one is a more recent discovery for me. I have been using it for couple of years now. The texture is like thick lotion. It does burn a little if it gets into your eye but not as much as soap. It removes eyeliner, mascara, and lipstick, and leaves your skin moisturized after you wipe it away unlike plain soap and water would.
- Vaseline. Years back a friend told me that you could remove mascara and eyeliner with Vaseline. And it is the only makeup remover product that I used for years until I tried out Ponds. It doesn’t burn at all but takes a lot more rubbing to remove makeup than Ponds. It also leaves the skin moisturized after its wiped away just in a greasy kind of way. 😀 and can be used to moisturize eyelashes for growth. Both using mascara and wiping at your eyelashes to wipe off the mascara can wear on them. And even just the product drying on the lashes can dry them out. Vaseline leaves a coating on your eyelashes that helps to keep them conditioned.
Vaseline for Lash Growth
I learned that I could clean mascara wands and apply Vaseline to my eyelashes to help with growth and moisturizing. I used to do it all the time and I actually saw results from it. They weren’t dramatic results. But I could tell that my eyelashes were overall longer and thicker. I haven’t done it in a long time. But I do remember it working well.
Just clean off an old mascara wand with soap and water. Or you can buy spooly brushes if you don’t like the idea of cleaning off an old wand. Coat your bristles with a thin layer of vaseline and brush it through your lashes after you remove your mascara.
