Mac Spotlight: Mineralize Skin Finish Highlighter in Gold Deposit

I’d been looking at the Mac Mineralized skin finish powders for a while. But I wasn’t completely sure it was something that I wanted. I have dry skin so powders don’t sit well sometimes. I’d never noticed this one anyway. I was looking more into the Mineralize skin finish Natural shades. I happened to randomly come across a short review for Mac Mineralize Skin Finish Highlighter in Gold Deposit. Gold deposit was described as a bronzer in the review and it did have a very golden/bronze shiny finish on the person reviewing it being that they were of a lighter complexion. I did a little bit more research and purchased this shade. I looked at review of it on darker complexions and it looked just as good. But came off more like a highlighter than a bronzer and it was very bright on them. By bright I mean a lot more bright than I’d prefer. But I thought I’d try it out anyway and before it came in I thought that it would look overly gold too fake looking but it doesn’t look anything like that. It creates a natural finish with a soft glow. In the pan it looks very intense.

But if its applied without a heavy hand it is just right. The first day I wore it I got complimented on my skin and how it looks like its clearing up. I think it is just because with my undertone it seems like it somewhat mimicked my natural warmth that the foundation blurred out. Or maybe it just distracts from whatever discoloration I had I don’t know. lol

Here it is with the color built up. It took several swipes to build it up to this intensity.

Here is a side view in natural lighting. My camera doesn’t capture the shine. And I think if I had enough for the camera to pick up I’d look like a disco ball. It doesn’t show up gold when sheered out on my skin. It just looks shinier in some spots. I put it on my forehead, nose, temples, chin and above my lip.

I took another picture the next day of the color built up more…

I think you can see the golden sheen better in this one since it is built up more. It is still a subtle glow on me that I think is especially fitting for the spring and summer season. And I didn’t end up looking overly shiny like I thought. It is very illuminating pulls your look together and makes you look done. It is on the expensive end but there is so much product in it so it wouldn’t need to be repurchased any time soon. There are also other alternatives that are cheaper and just as good. But I wouldn’t mind buying it again.
