Chapstick isn’t as fun as lip gloss or lipstick. But it is important if you want lip products to apply evenly and look good. I don’t remember ever liking lip balms. I thought they were too slippery and as soon as I put them on I wanted to wipe them off immediately. But I like to buy them as a kid just for the scent and the flavor. Lip smacker chap stick was my go to. It was an 8 year old’s must have “makeup” product LOL They came in a variety of scents/flavors. I specifically remember the Blue Berry scent and their glittery labels. I haven’t used those since then and strayed away from all chap stick because of the greasy feeling that I didn’t like. And that can be a problem if you’re someone with dry skin. For a while I just stuck with exfoliating or only used chap stick sometimes for as long as I could tolerate it which was about 5 minutes if that lol
I’ve tried Blistex Medicated after I was past the Lip Smacker phase but even that was too greasy for me. Then one day I got the idea to google non greasy chapsticks and discovered that EOS lip balm was one of those. It was the most reasonable priced item on the list so I went with that one. I don’t own that one anymore but It goes on in a very thin non greasy layer and soothes dry skin. I’d buy it again if I didn’t already have too many. After trying different brands, I’ve come across a few I feel work the best.
Carmex is a light weight formulation that is not too greasy. And after it wears off it keeps the skin soft and smooth. And it also comes in other scents besides the classic version. The classic version has a medicated scent but I don’t find it to be overbearing. It fades after a while of wearing it. And it works well to moisturize.
Aquaphor is one of the best also in my opinion and limited experimentation. Like Carmex, it isn’t heavy and it doesn’t have a scent or even a flavor that I can detect. And it also leaves the lips feeling soft and smooth afterwards. There’s no need to reapply over and over like with other chapsticks that leave your lips dry after it wears away. This is good to wear under lipsticks and lip liners that are matte and/or very drying.
NIVEA Lip balm-Peach
This one has peach scent that smells just like peach ring candy. There isn’t a tint that I can tell. It moisturizes well and the smooth result lasts for a long while afterwards.
CHAPSTICK Original(Black) & Moisturizer(Blue)
Both of these are very light weight and moisturizing. There’s a mild medicated scent but it isn’t overwhelming.
Vaseline is very light and also keeps lips smooth after wearing it but not as long as the Aquaphor and Carmex. But it does leave your lips very soft and smooth like you’ve just exfoliated them and has a sheer pink tint .
And that is the sum of the non greasy chapsticks I’ve come across. If you happened to come across this post and made it this far……. Thanks for reading. Hope it helped if you happen to be someone who doesn’t like greasy chapstick.
